By NZC Wednesday 15 January 2025, 01:45 pm

An inaugural Community Cricket Umpires & Scorers Advisory Group (USAG) has been announced this week, established to oversee community umpiring and scoring across Aotearoa.

The group will bring together members from New Zealand Cricket, Major and District Associations, and key stakeholders from the umpiring and scoring community.

A key focus of the group will be the development of umpires and scorers across the nation, ensuring those on the ground are supported in their learning.

The group will also focus on ensuring umpires and scorers enjoy positive experiences both on and off the field.

NZC Community Umpire Manager, Eugene Sanders, the advisory group will allow for a more connected approach to supporting umpires and scorers.

“The main goal of the group is to foster a collaborative approach in shaping the future of community umpiring and scoring,”

“By adopting this approach, we are confident we will be able to provide the best possible support to our umpires and scorers, ultimately creating rewarding experiences for officials throughout the regions.”

The group will work closely with the Regional Umpire & Scorer Developers to increase training and development opportunities for all umpires and scorers.
